New Security Strategy Launched to Protect the Riviera Maya

"Riviera Maya Shield Operation" unites local and federal security forces to safeguard the tourist destination 

Playa del Carmen, MX.— To ensure safety in one of Mexico's most important tourist destinations, authorities have launched the "Riviera Maya Shield Operation." 

This joint strategy involves the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Solidaridad and Tulum, Quintana Roo Police, National Guard, Navy, and Army, strengthening surveillance in key areas. 

The operation focuses primarily on the border zone between Tulum and Solidaridad, where security personnel conduct vehicle inspections to detect weapons, narcotics, and stolen vehicles. 

These actions are part of a policing model that prioritizes interagency coordination to protect both residents and visitors. 

Estefanía Mercado, Municipal President of Solidaridad, emphasized the importance of this collaboration to safeguard the tranquility of the Riviera Maya. 

She highlighted that ensuring the destination's safety is essential for both the local economy and the experience of those who visit the region.
